The B-level classes focus on reading the Hebrew Bible in its original language. Over the course students build a solid foundation for proficiently reading prosaic texts. Furthermore, they get a better feel for the morphology of nouns and verbs, master additional syntactical structures, and expand their vocabulary. As a result, students vastly improve their ability to comprehend the Hebrew Scriptures. The grammatical topics are taught within the framework of well-known Biblical stories.
By the end of the course, students will

Class meets once a week over a 8-month period.
In addition, students can take advantage of our complimentary enrichment sessions, for an additional hour per week.

Courses open every month. Classes are available during the week and on Sundays, during the morning, afternoon, and evening hours.

This course is open to anyone over the age of 18 who knows the Hebrew alphabet, is familiar with the basic noun and verbal paradigms, and can read the Bible’s short prose texts. In any event, if it turns out that a student is unsuited for a particular level, the teacher will immediately transfer him or her to the appropriate class (at no extra charge).
Students are more than welcome to take our Biblical Hebrew courses for 3 academic credits from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. For full academic requirements, please download our Information Pack and read the Academic Requirements appendix B.

My goal for studying was to understand the text as clearly as possible, and although the language seems strange and difficult at first the payoff is tremendous! This program with the cirriculum and live interaction, has given me the chance to reach my goal. I am loving the course and learning about Biblical Hebrew. This course has opened me to a new part of myself that I had not been aware of before - the passionate student with a desire to learn. Thank you to the eteacher team for allowing me to experience this fresh, new perspective on learning. Dr. Luke Miller is a superb teacher. His background is in Semitic languages and Biblical archeology... he is excellent when it comes to explaining the many features and nuances of Biblical Hebrew and its relationship to the Hebrew that is spoken today. I don't learn very fast but e-teacher has helped me to stick with my Hebrew lessons. I think it is very important to learn Biblical Hebrew and I just keep taking lessons. I know that one day I will be able to read the scriptures without the classes but until that day I know that I can rely e-teacher for help. I started the e teacher classes, now the concepts of the language are just sticking and I am getting a better understanding of the concepts. It is a great program I love the interaction with the teachers and the class. What a great lesson! I learned a lot and I thought I was well prepared for this lesson. Ivrit is so beautiful as a language. The language just comes to life.

I am thoroughly enjoying my Biblical Hebrew class with Beth. It has been very helpful for me to be able to work on this material without the pressure of grades or trying to take five other academic courses simultaneously.
