Welcome to eTeacherBiblical - Question of the week.

Goliath - The precise meaning of Goliath’s name is not known. One of the suggestions that have been raised is that this is a Hurrian name composed of the elements guli (“the word of”) and te (a common shortening of the theophoric name tešup). (The Hurrians were a people whose origin was apparently in the region of Armenia and who are mentioned as one of the people groups living in the land of Canaan.)
